Happy Monsoon!!

**note..for those of you who signed up for Ela Fruit Share..this is the week!! Please check your name on the list as you pick up your fruit share!! If someone else is picking up for you please make sure they know to pick up your fruit!!

Our monsoon rain continues..some areas of Colorado have gotten hit with large quantities of rain and/ or hail..some flooding in places as well as some crop damage. Here at the farm we have had a few light afternoon /evening thundershowers and one real nice gentle soaking rain..not quite my overnight rain I always ask for..it started about 3 in the early morning and rained until about 10 am. Not complaining though..it made pulling weeds and prepping beds so nice!! The plants are rally lovin' it!! Still a bit cooler..mostly about mid 80's with lows in the mid 50's..lows just a tad cool for some of our warm season goodies..okra is complaining!!

In the tunnels..harvests of everything except the okra are increasing quite a bit..I think the low tunnel tomats have finally decided to kick in!! A few more cucs..and the eggplant is very happy!!

Outdoors..everything just loved the rain again this week..we could see the plants just stretch out and shout thank you!! Cucs are starting to slowly kick in..green beans have little tiny inch long beans..melons are growing larger{Della picked the first watermelon..unfortunately all it's little signs she looks for to see if they are ready to pick were misleading..it was not ripe!!}Garlic is all in and hung..we are getting more seed beds ready for fall roots..seeding trays with fall greens for the tunnel..and pulling bazillions of weeds..doing squash bug hunt and tomato hornworm hunt..trellising tomats and cucs..and much more!! Thanks to the Mueller family for coming out to help..

Updates on our little birdie friends..Coral's babies were 6 weeks old on Monday. Mom's babies..are almost 6 weeks old today and tomorrow. I can't beleive how big they are getting!! One of them is learning to honk..

We have been naming the goose the last couple of weeks..you all came up with over a dozen very awesome names..last week we had you vote on your favorite name. Well, we have it narrowed down to 4 names now so we will have you vote again this week and see if we can narrow it down to just one!!

Duckies are all doing well..they really enjoyed the rains!! Kiera and Titus have been setting for about 2 weeks now..almost halfway there!!

Baby chickies will be 22 weeks old on Monday.. The new babies will be about  19 weeks old on Tuesday. They are very happy down in the chicken house.

note: we do have chicken and duck eggs for sale here at the farm..chicken eggs are $4.00 and Duck eggs are $6.00. Just give us a call..249-9725..to pick some

work days we can set up time for you to get your work commitment in during the week..Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday work best for us..anytime from 6am to noon. We will have Sunday workdays again in the fall after the frost.

We still have a few shares available..

What is available for the CSA?

This is my best guess of what we will be harvesting this week. The next couple of weeks the shares may be a bit light..we are transitioning from cool season crops to warm season goodies..we are getting a few more pounds of warm season delights each week but are not there yet!!

NOTE:For food safety..our veggies are not ready to eat..we "chill" or hydro-cool them to get the field heat out but they are not washed!! Please wash them before you eat them!!
