Happy Monsoon!!

**Ela Fruit Share..yum!! Please check your name on the list as you pick up your fruit share!! If someone else is picking up for you please make sure they know to pick up your fruit!!

Happy rain?? Well it has been raining off and on most of the week..it rained on Saturday..some more on Sunday..a bit more on Monday..and even more on Tuesday..Tuesday night it poured and continued Wednesday morning. We were all primed for sunshine today..the newspaper, the computer and the radio all said we would have abundant sunshine..well, it was started raining again about 6:30 this morning and drizzled off and on until almost 11..the sun is shining brightly right now, but I see more clouds all around the horizon!! Maybe tomorrow we will have sunshine??

In the tunnels..Yes, tis tomato season!! The tomatoes in the low tunnels went even more nuts this week..mostly red tomats...salsa,soup,salad..basically anything with tomatoes anyone??

Outdoors..Well, we have harvested over 500 lbs of awesome goodness so far this week..and still have harvest tomorrow to go!! Much is tomats from the low tunnel {almost 200 lbs!!}. AND the melons still are not ripening ..they are waiting for a couple of nice warm SUNNY days!! The rain has made harvesting a bit of a challenge..lots of mud to muck through..lots of waiting for things to dry out{berries, beans, and basil don't do well if harvested wet!!}..  Thanks Joyce for coming out to help.

 Fun Happening!!...revised date!!

Summer Plenty Farm to Table Dinner September 10  6-9 pm

Ouray Chamber Resort Association Fundraiser at the Bachelor Syracuse Mine                   1223 County Road 14 Ouray  Tickets are $75/person all inclusive RSVP 970-325-4746           This will be a lovely outdoor Farm to Table dinner with awesome views using locally grown and produced foods and spirits.                                                                                         Kat..one of your fellow CSA members and chef is creating a menu using local in season produce from local producers including Circle A Garden.

Updates on our little birdie friends..Coral's babies were 9 weeks old on Monday. Mom's babies..are almost 9 weeks old today and tomorrow. It is amazing how fast they have grown..it is getting difficult to tell them apart from the older geese..until they try to honk. We moved the big geese from the front yard into nes pasture yesterday..they seem to be enjoying it.

Duckies are about the only ones who have truly enjoyed the weather this week..they think it's great!! Kiera's baby will be 2 weeks old tomorrow..growing like a weed, but still cute

Baby chickies will be 25 weeks old on Monday.. The new babies will be about  22 weeks old on Tuesday. I think most of them are laying now..and the eggs are getting bigger.

note: we do have chicken and duck eggs for sale here at the farm..chicken eggs are $4.00 and Duck eggs are $6.00. Just give us a call..249-9725..to pick some

work days we can set up time for you to get your work commitment in during the week..Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday work best for us..anytime from 6am to noon. We will have Sunday workdays again in the fall after the frost.

We still have a few shares available..

Exciting news!!! Colorado will have a labeling GMO initiative on the ballot in November..Proposition 105..PLEASE learn more about why labeling foods containing GMO's is so important..help get the word out..and PLEASE vote!!

What is available for the CSA?

This is my best guess of what we will be harvesting this week. Except for melons peak season is here!! LOTS of warm season goodies this week..especially tomatoes and cucumbers!! Not sure what to do with your bounty?? Our website has a recipe section that I add to just about every week!!

NOTE:For food safety..our veggies are not ready to eat..we "chill" or hydro-cool them to get the field heat out but they are not washed!! Please wash them before you eat them!!
