Note:  It is now November and need last payment from a few of you!! Thanks!!

Wanted!! fall leaves!!

Well, I think our lovely fall weather decided to go south with the birds..lots of geese, sandhill cranes and other birds have been going over this week..so fun to watch..especially the sandhills!! Wasn't too bad early in the week..Sunday and Monday{Alex and Zeno's last days here} were a bit cooler, but nice and sunny. Tuesday was even cooler, but still some sunshine. Wednesday was pretty much cloudy with a random little skiff of snow here and there..not anything significant..just enough to make us really miss the last few weeks. Today was cloudy and cold..I think our high was maybe 35..brrrrr!!! And the forcast for the next couple of days doesn't look much better..cold, cloudy, and our first touch of winter weather..may even get some snow. Della and I are definitely NOT looking forward to that!! Not only are we in intern withdrawal{Zeno.s jokes and conversations with Alex about growing food are very much missed!!}we are already missing the sun and warm temperatures of the last few weeks!!

In the tunnels..greens in the high tunnel are also missing the sun..today we added another layer of frost blanket to keep the rest of our babies warm!! Between the cooler temperatures and to shorter days they are starting to grow much more slowly

Outdoors..Fall harvest continues. This week we harvested the last of the brussel sprouts. We also harvest the last of the kohlrabi, leeks, and beets for storage. Also harvested a few more sugar beets, mangals, and parsnips.  We are getting close..just have a few turnips, carrots, sunchokes, and parsnips to go!!

Garlic planting continues..finished up the bed we started last week and maybe about 1/2 of the next bed...Thank you Terry for your help on Sunday workday!!

Updates on our little birdie friends..Coral's babies were 20 weeks old on Monday. Mom's babies..are almost 20 weeks old today and tomorrow. Moved them over to new pasture in the brossica {think broccoli, cauliflower, kohlrabi, brussel sprouts, and cabbage} patch yesterday. Sad news..some critter got into the flock and we lost four geese last night..and one injured. The rest are VERY nervous and unhappy..they are back over in the other patch for the night..may just move them over to the brassicas during the day

Duckies.. They are enjoying wandering the garden..a little less frenzied..they have scouted out their favorite spots now and make the rounds each day. Kiera's baby..who's name is little squoosh.. will be 13 weeks old tomorrow..he and Kiera are sleeping down in the duck house with the rest of the ducks now.

Baby chickies will be 36 weeks old on Monday.. The new babies will be about  33 weeks old on Tuesday. I think most of them are laying now..and the eggs are getting bigger.

note: we do have chicken and duck eggs for sale here at the farm..chicken eggs are $4.00 and Duck eggs are $6.00. Just give us a call..249-9725..to pick some

work days Starting this weekend ..October 26..we will start doing some Sunday workdays..9 am to noon..Workdays during the week will be Tuesday and Wednesday.

We still have a few shares available..

What is available for the CSA?

This is my best guess of what we will be harvesting this week. you will be seeing lots of different cool season roots, shoots and tubers in the coming weeks!! Not sure what to do with your bounty?? Our website has a recipe section that I add to just about every week!!

NOTE:For food safety..our veggies are not ready to eat..we "chill" or hydro-cool them to get the field heat out but they are not washed!! Please wash them before you eat them!!
