Well, Mother Nature must of heard us complaining about her timing on the rain last week..sooo she sent us more..much more..all at very inconvenient times. It rained some Saturday and Sunday evening..which we were ok about except that we needed to play catch up on the berry picking. Monday morning started out rainy..did clear a bit so we could get part of the berries picked..I don't think it rained much Tuesday so we were able to get the rest of Monday's picking of berries done..but it rained Tuesday night so we had to wait for the berries to dry before we got them picked. Was clear Wednesday evening, but about 5am Thursday morning it started in with lots of thunder and lightning..and buckets of rain..let up just a bit about 6:30..then more buckets..that let up about 8 or so..but continued to just drizzel off and on the rest of the morning and into afternoon. We got through picking and getting produce into the cooler about 3:30..the rain stopped..the clouds went away..and the sun came out. By this morning the clouds were back..and so was the rain..not so much as Thursday..mostly just short sprinkles here and there. The berries dried out well, but the basil would almost be dry enough to pick..and it would rain just enough to get it wet again. We hate to complain about any rainfall we get, but...... At least the weather forecast is saying that next week will be drier!!

A good bit of our week was spent waiting for things to dry out!! While we were waiting we slogged around in the mud, pulled a few weeds here and there, and harvested when we could!! Didn't get much weeding done in our fall plantings..just too darn wet!!

Note; we can still use your help your help!!!. Workdays for September are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday..9-noon unless you want to come earlier to beat the heat!!

In the tunnels..tomatoes are starting to reach peak..over 100 lbs from the tunnels this week!! Did some work during the rains getting beds ready for all those greens we started a couple weeks back and harvesting our blue mustard seed we grew out.

Even though we are approaching the halfway point in our CSA season, there are still many weeks left of awesome procuce!! We need 50 members this season!! We have 34 members at this point. We will still be signing folks up until we are full!!

Not sure if our CSA is for you?  Have questions on how it works? Would you like to schedule a tour and talk to your farmer face to face? Please, don't hesitate to contact us through the website or by phone. {be aware that we are spending much of our daylight hours outdoors away from the phone..Please leave a message and we will be glad to get back to you in the evening!!}

Updates on our little birdie friends...

 new little chickies  are just about 15 weeks old..looks {and sounds!!}like we have at least two little roosters..they still need much more practice!! They seem to be enjoying their new quarters..some day we may get used to hearing them down there!!

Old little chickies are almost 27 weeks old now..2 have started laying now..one aracana and one columbian wyandotte

New duckies are 23 weeks old now..all the ducks have enjoyed the rain this week..in fact I suspect that at least one of them was down there doing a rain dance!!

Little Miss did it!! Now have 7 or 8 little goslings that are 16 weeks old. Very difficult to tell the babies from the adults now..unless they are honking..the babies are still sort of twittering..either haven't gotten the honk thing down yet or just haven't needed to make that much noise 'cause everyone else is already doing so!!

new baby duckies are 6 weeks old!! They are reaching that awkward teenage stage..all feet..growing more feathers..a couple of them are starting to get little baby mohawks. They are going to be interesting when they get finished feathering out!!

Fun happening we would like to get started here on the farm..a demonstration of how to use different veggies in the share. We are shooting for 3 Saturdays this season..early spring, peak season, and fall. If you have a favorite way to prepare your veggies that you wold like to share with everyone please let me know so we can get it all coordinated. Our THANKS to Kat and Stan for helping put this together!!

Workdays for August, Sept..weekdays Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. 9 am-noon unless you would like to come earlier to beat the heat!

What is available for the CSA?
