Happy Fall everyone!!

Note: 28th veggie pickup of the 2015 season is tomorrow morning!!!  11:00am to 2:00pm!!!

NOTE>>NOTE>>NOTE!!! This week!!!  October 10 the new time will be 11 am to 2 pm. Please pass the word to your pickup groups or to anyone that will be picking up for you!!

Well, not quite such a glorious week!! We had just a bit of rain Sunday night and Monday..not a huge amount just drizzles off and on most of the night and day. Then the sun started coming back Tuesday..not as warm as last week but not too bad for fall weather!! Highs have been in the high 60's early in the week..70's later after the sun came back. Lows have been in the low-mid 40's except for one night when we got down to 38. No freeze yet!! but the high peaks did get a bit of snow!! Looks like we will have more nice sunny weather for another week..then looks like another storm is moving in next weekend.

Fall is definitely in the air this week..just a bit of a nip to the breeze..and at least one of your farmers had to break down and wear long pants and shoes!! Tomatoes are still going strong..not quite as many this week..only 136 lbs. Melons have gone nuts!! Even more melons for the CSA this week!! Not sure what to do with all that melon?? Well, a few things we have tried in the past are..freezing it..just cut into chunks or use a melon baller and stick in the freezer..nice additions to smoothies through the winter!! Make sorbet..and freeze for winter. Making melon jam..melons make an awesome jam..one of our favorites is melon pineapple..I think Terry was going to try a melon blackberry. Dehydrate it..cut into chunks or slices and dry it..makes awesome little snack bites for outdoor adventures..or for just munching..warning..can be addictive!! and it is very hard to eat just one..you can start out with a whole bag and the next thing you know it's all gone!! I have more melon recipes on the website... www.circleagarden.com

NOTE: food safety..our melons are grown in soil!! Melons are very high in sugars..all bacteria..the good, the bad, and the ugly love sugar to grow!! Please wash your melons thoroughly before you cut them!! As you cut them, you inoculate that whole cut with any bacteria that is on the outside of the melon!!

FYI: Melons like lots of heat to develop their sweetness so our melons this year may not be quite as sweet as usual.

Note; we can still use your help your help!!!. Workdays for October are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday..9-noon unless you want to come earlier to beat the heat!! We need to get a start on winter squash harvest

Note Note!! We are going to do a Special Sunday Get the Harvest in Before Frost Day!! Sunday October 18. We will be harvesting warm season crops that will be hurt by a frost..

In the tunnels..Tomatoes are still going strong..peppers are getting done..if this weather continues they may have more..there are a lot of little peppers that have just set in the last few weeks but may not have time to mature out. Chinese cabbage is still growing strong..the rest of the greens are lookin' good. I'll sure be glad when the red choi and the red rain get bigger..right now it looks like there are big gaps in the bed..{they are dark colored and don't show up well against the soil}!!

Updates on our little birdie friends...

NOTE: Della has some of the ducks and geese for sale now..please check with her if you are interested..

new little chickies  are just about 20 weeks old..should have heard them this week crowing at the moon in competition with the older roosters

Old little chickies are almost 32 weeks old now..looks like all the aracanas..the ones who lay the blue eggs are laying..not sure how many of the others have started..

New duckies are 28 weeks old now..they have not been at all pleased with the lack of rain!!

Little Miss did it!! Now have 7 or 8 little goslings that are 21 weeks old. All the geese love the split melons..they start demanding their melon fix before we even get them picked!!

new baby duckies are now 11 weeks old!! We have a theory{and we are sticking to it!!} The ducks with the big feet are the boys..the ones with the smaller feet are the girls!! Della did try to do her bead thing this week but the duckies kept trying to eat her bead!! Don't know what the bead thing is..ask Della and she can show you how it works..same principle as dowsing for water..pretty cool!!

Fun happening we would like to get started here on the farm..a demonstration of how to use different veggies in the share. We are shooting for 3 Saturdays this season..early spring, peak season, and fall. If you have a favorite way to prepare your veggies that you wold like to share with everyone please let me know so we can get it all coordinated. Our THANKS to Kat and Stan for helping put this together!!

Happy Fall everyone!!

Note: 27th veggie pickup of the 2015 season is tomorrow morning!!!  9:00am to noon!!!

NOTE>>NOTE>>NOTE!!! Fall is here..days are much shorter..and it is getting cooler in the early mornings..it is time to change our veggie pickup hours. Next week.. October 10 the new time will be 11 am to 2 pm. Please pass the word to your pickup groups or to anyone that will be picking up for you!!

Well, another glorious fall week!! Lots of sunshine..a couple days that it got downright hot!! Highs have been in the 80's..lows in the high 40's. We reached record breaking highs for this time of year a couple days..some of our highs this last week of Sept and first week of October were higher than some of the highs back in July and August!! Today was incredibly warm..incredibly sunny..and incredibly windy so there must be a storm brewing someplace. The forecast this next week is calling for cooler temps..70 degree days with low 40's at night..we might even get a bit of rain by Monday or Tuesday!!

Fall is still happening, but this week was more like summer abodanza. Summer squash made a comeback..little squashes grew like weeds..we had been picking it 3 times a week to keep it small..it seemed to be dwindleing so this week we only picked it once..quite a few fairly good sized zucs. Tomatoes really boomed this week..harvested almost 150 lbs..we've been getting about 100 lbs each week during September. AND the melons finally decided it was time!! Lots of melons this week!!

Note Note!! We may do a Special Sunday Get the Harvest in Before Frost Day!! We need to give the winter squash as much time as possible to mature before we pick them. {They were late going in as well and really needed more heat during July and August} So far the weather is holding but may be sending out an emergency frost e-mail during the next few weeks!! Please let me know if you will be available to help us!!

In the tunnels..Tomatoes in the low tunnel..well last week I figured they were on their way out..Tuesday we got a few..then today we got about 30 lbs!! Tomats in the high tunnel decided to speed up their ripening as well. We got a few more trays of greens planted..everybody is looking great!! I think the chinese cabbage grew about 6 inches since last week!!

Happy Fall everyone!!

Note: 26th veggie pickup of the 2015 season is tomorrow morning!!!  9:00am to noon!!!

NOTE>>NOTE>>NOTE!!! Fall is here..days are much shorter..and it is getting cooler in the early mornings..it is time to change our veggie pickup hours. In two weeks..October October 10 the new time will be 11 am to 2 pm. Please pass the word to your pickup groups or to anyone that will be picking up for you!!

Well, the last two weeks have been glorious!!! Don't you just love fall?? Lots of sunshine..most days have been nice and warm..but not too warm!!..nights have been a bit cool at times..we had a couple of 40 degree nights last weekend. Mostly our daytime temps have been hi 70's to mid 80's..did have a couple of days that barely reached 70. Nighttime temps have been anywhere from 40 to 50. The forecast is calling for more of the same..lots of sunshine..highs in the low 80's with lows in the 40's. I wouldn't mind having a nice long fall..like clear up to Christmas!! I am NOT ready to add more layers..I am already starting to lose my jacket..I put it on in the early morning..take it off where ever I am when the sun hits me..and then I can't find it the next morning!!

Signs of fall are happening all over out in  the fields..summer squash is dwindling..blackberries are just about finished..peppers are turning bright and glorious colors..almost down to the last week of fennel..fall roots are getting bigger..brussel sprouts are making little sprouts..fall cabbages are starting to head up..we are hitting the fields later..almost 7 instead of 5:30.. AND yet the melons are still waiting to ripen!! But we got twice as many melons this week as last..{ok so we only got 7 last week!!}..but if we continue to have all this sunshine they may go ahead and ripen!! This week we got a few swan lake, some emerald gems, a couple of canary melons. and a couple of watermelon. AND some of the others are looking like they could ripen up any minute now!! We did plant them later than in past years..it was just so cool early on..{remember the snow on Mother's day weekend? Della and Terry are STILL telling me about it!!}..but they should have started ripening by Sept.1!!

Note; we can still use your help your help!!!. Workdays for September are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday..9-noon unless you want to come earlier to beat the heat!!

Thanks to Joyce for coming out Wednesday and Rylan {our great nephew} for coming over Thursday to help out!! Also, please help us thank Kat for an outstanding job making our veggies shine!!

In the tunnels..Tomatoes in the low tunnel are waning..soon it will bee time to start harvesting sweet potatoes. Have a sweet potato question for next season..I keep reading and hearing about purple sweet potatoes and I think I might like to try a few..{you know me and purple veggies!!}They take a much longer season than the orange ones we are doing now..would you like us to try a few purples if I can find slips in the spring?? Fall planting of greens is going in slowly but surely..some of the holdup is waiting for summer crops to come out..some is we have had to spend a lot more time than normal picking blackberries..but we have gotten over half of them in..most of the rest are slated to go in Monday. The ones we have gotten planted are lookin' good..already putting up new growth!!

Updates on our little birdie friends...

new little chickies  are just about 18 weeks old..looks {and sounds!!}like we have at least two little roosters..they still need much more practice!! They seem to be enjoying their new quarters..some day we may get used to hearing them down there!!

Old little chickies are almost 30 weeks old now..several more have started laying.

New duckies are 26 weeks old now..they have not been at all pleased with the lack of rain!!

Well, this week was oh so much drier!! It was cloudy early on in the week..clearing and sunny by early afternoon...maybe 10 whole drops of rain. By Tuesday the sun was back in all its glory...from dawn to dawn!!! High temperatures early in the week in the 70's..today it hit 85..lows have been in the 40's all week. Who enjoyed a week of sunshine?? Well, pretty much all of us here at the farm..it was so delightful to harvest and work out in the fields without all that water pouring down!! The forecast for next week is calling for a bit of rain early in the week with sunshine later on.

Was a much better week for getting out into  the fields..Mom has been oh so happy to be able to get out of the house..she has been working on weeding our fall roots..they are lookin' good!! The melons appreciated the sunshine..they have been waiting for it..Della harvested our first 5 watermelons today!! Hopefully if we get another good solid week of warm sunny weather the rest of the melons will decide to start ripening. There are lots of melons out there, but they like warmer, sunnier days than we have been getting to start ripening out. If you haven't been out in the gardens for a while, the sunchokes are in full bloom right now..spectacular!!

In the tunnels..We plan on starting to plant greens next week..lord willin' and the crick don't rise!! Okra and malabar spinack will be coming out soon to make way for more greens. Tomats are still going strong. Chard and kale..especially the kale is very happy!! Peppers are amazing..many of them are starting to sport their fall colors..lots of reds, yellow, and orange to brighten up the CSA this week.

Even though we are approaching the halfway point in our CSA season, there are still many weeks left of awesome procuce!! We need 50 members this season!! We have 34 members at this point. We will still be signing folks up until we are full!!

Well, Mother Nature must of heard us complaining about her timing on the rain last week..sooo she sent us more..much more..all at very inconvenient times. It rained some Saturday and Sunday evening..which we were ok about except that we needed to play catch up on the berry picking. Monday morning started out rainy..did clear a bit so we could get part of the berries picked..I don't think it rained much Tuesday so we were able to get the rest of Monday's picking of berries done..but it rained Tuesday night so we had to wait for the berries to dry before we got them picked. Was clear Wednesday evening, but about 5am Thursday morning it started in with lots of thunder and lightning..and buckets of rain..let up just a bit about 6:30..then more buckets..that let up about 8 or so..but continued to just drizzel off and on the rest of the morning and into afternoon. We got through picking and getting produce into the cooler about 3:30..the rain stopped..the clouds went away..and the sun came out. By this morning the clouds were back..and so was the rain..not so much as Thursday..mostly just short sprinkles here and there. The berries dried out well, but the basil would almost be dry enough to pick..and it would rain just enough to get it wet again. We hate to complain about any rainfall we get, but...... At least the weather forecast is saying that next week will be drier!!

A good bit of our week was spent waiting for things to dry out!! While we were waiting we slogged around in the mud, pulled a few weeds here and there, and harvested when we could!! Didn't get much weeding done in our fall plantings..just too darn wet!!

Note; we can still use your help your help!!!. Workdays for September are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday..9-noon unless you want to come earlier to beat the heat!!

In the tunnels..tomatoes are starting to reach peak..over 100 lbs from the tunnels this week!! Did some work during the rains getting beds ready for all those greens we started a couple weeks back and harvesting our blue mustard seed we grew out.

Even though we are approaching the halfway point in our CSA season, there are still many weeks left of awesome procuce!! We need 50 members this season!! We have 34 members at this point. We will still be signing folks up until we are full!!

Happy abodonza everyone!!

Note: 22nd veggie pickup of the 2015 season is tomorrow morning!!!  9:00am to noon!!!

Our chef demo and tasting went well..lots of great food, lots of fun ideas, and lots of great folks hanging out, talking and sharing ideas!! My main problem was I didn't know what I wanted to try to make first!! Please help us thank Kat for coming down and showing off our veggies!!

FUN Happening coming up Sunday, Sept 13, 2015 10:30-4:00

Savor the San Juans..Local Foods, Local Chefs, Local Homes

A delightful tour of 6 local homes..local chefs preparing samples of wonderful dishes using local bounty!! For more information go to  valleyfoodpartnership.org and look for savorthesanjuans. Earlybird tickets are $35 until Sept 1..$40 after that. I have tickets here at veggie pickup or there is a list of places on the VFP website. This a benefit for Valley Food Partnership and the Montrose Community Foundation....Kat and Circle A Garden will be teaming up for the day..Please come and see us and help support local food!!

Just a bit damper this week..hot and dry until Wednesday..cloudy Wednesday..rainy off and on Wednesday afternoon, evening and into Thursday morning. Thursday was sunny and things were drying out a bit, but sometime between midnight and about 4 am it really rained..everything was VERY wet Friday morning!! This is that time of year when we here at the farm have very definite ideas about when we would like it to rain..while most of our crops will tolerate being harvested wet or while it is raining there are 3 that don.t do so well..basil, beans, and blackberries. The basil turns black, the beans rust, and the blackberries mold if they are picked wet and then put into the cooler..we pick blackberries Monday, Wednesday, and Friday..we pick green beans Tuesday and Friday..and we pick basil on Friday..then of course we have CSA pickup on Saturday. So we figure it can rain of an afternoon sometime between about 3 and 6..early enough so that everything will be dry by the following morning{and so we don't have to do evening chores in the rain!!} On Saturday it can start raining about 3 or so, let up for evening chores, then gently rain all night and into Sunday morning..but it has to quit in time for things to dry out for Monday!! Somehow I just don't think Mother Nature is on the same schedule as we are!!

This weed outdoors we pulled another gazillion weeds..next week we need to focus on all our fall seed beds..SOOOO many weeds popping up!! The sugar beets, mangals, and rutabaga are big enough to thin and use the greens for the CSA..they will be in the greens category tomorrow morning. The mangals and the sugar beets are related to swiss chard and beets.  the greens can be used much the same as the chard and beet greens...The Rutabaga is a brassica and is related to kale, collards, turnips, etc. The blackberries are going nuts!!..LOTS of them this week!!

Note; we can still use your help your help!!!. Workdays for August are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday..9-noon unless you want to come earlier to beat the heat!!

In the tunnels..tomatoes are starting to reach peak..over 100 lbs from the tunnels this week!!

Even though we are approaching the halfway point in our CSA season, there are still many weeks left of awesome procuce!! We need 50 members this season!! We have 34 members at this point. We will still be signing folks up until we are full!!

Please sign up and encourage friends, family, co-workers, etc to join us!! To sign up..just go to our website.. www.circleagarden.com  click on member signup and follow the directions.

Not sure if our CSA is for you?  Have questions on how it works? Would you like to schedule a tour and talk to your farmer face to face? Please, don't hesitate to contact us through the website or by phone. {be aware that we are spending much of our daylight hours outdoors away from the phone..Please leave a message and we will be glad to get back to you in the evening!!}

Not so much thunder and lightening this week..Makes Oreo, oh, so happy!! Mostly sunny {and smokey!!} this week..high in the 80's..some lows down into the 40's again..42 Sunday night!! The forecast looks like we might get a bit of moisture in the coming week.

Our focus outdoors is switching more from weeding to harvesting. That doesn't mean we don't have more weeds to pull..but in most areas we seem to be getting ahead of them a bit!! Mom and Della went out earlier this week and harvested onions..walla walla and cabernet. The wallas will store short term..the cabernet will be in the veggie pickups late in the season. We got them all sorted and hung. The blackberries are starting to ripen rapidly..this week was the first week of major picking..Mondays picking mostly went into the freezer for jam and wine..that last hail we had really messed them up..Wed and Fri pickings were much better. The summer squash has peaked!! Egplant, pepper, and tomato are growing well and we have been harvesting a few here and there. Today we picked the first 5 lbs of green beans!! Almost all our babies are up..beets, radishes, turnips, and kohlrabi are pretty much all up..the first few carrots are starting to come up.

Note; we can still use your help your help!!!. Workdays for August are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday..9-noon unless you want to come earlier to beat the heat!!

In the tunnels..Everythng decided it was time to get with the program and start ripening a bit faster..we harvested over 40 lbs of tomats just from the high tunnel, the jimmy nardello peppers are going crazy{red sweet pepper that all our interns have voted the best tasting pepper they have EVER had for about 6 years now. The okra was just waiting for Alex to get back to Oregon..it's yield jumped about 4 times this week!! All the trays we seeded last week are up and looking good..we will be starting to transplant them into the tunnel as warm season goodies start coming out in Sept. You can see them over on the west side of the lawn..please,send them love and warm thoughts!!

Happy closer to abodonza everyone!!

Note: 20th veggie pickup of the 2015 season is tomorrow morning!!!  9:00am to noon!!!

Another note: Next week, folks!! Mark August 22nd, 10:00am to noon..on your calendar..that's when Kat is going to demonstrate what to do with all those summer veggies in your share!! We would like to have some of the rest of your bring a recipe or dish of what you do with them to share as well!!

Rain and sun both this week. It did rain a good bit of Sunday..not huge amounts just sprinkles off and on most of the day then heavier during the evening. More rain off and on Tuesday and Wednesday..torrential downpour with a bit of hail Wed evening. Sunny and downright hot again today but looks like we may have a few happy clouds moving in for the evening. Could our "monsoon" season have arrived?? Seems like we have had a good bit of afternoon and evening thunderstorm activity going on this week??

This week outdoors we have pulled at least another gazillion weeds..seems like we should be getting ahead of them but..A good bit of this week we spent preparing the rest of the old garlic beds and getting the last of the fall roots sowed..beets, carrots, radishes, turnips and kohlrabi are all in now. The rest of the seeds we have planted the last few weeks are up and growing well..some of them have even gotten their first weeding!! After harvesting this morning we spent the rest of the day getting the garlic all off the stalks and into bags. Next week we start on onions!!

Sad news..Alex will be leaving tomorrow.. Please help us thank her for all her hard work!! Cerra starts back to school on Thursday so yesterday was here last day on the farm..Mikal has another week before he starts back..please help us thank them for harvesting and cleaning up all the veggies we pick on Thursdays!!!{by the way, Mikal and Cerra are Mom's great-grandchildren!! Thursdays we have had 4 generations of our family harvesting and getting your veggies ready for you!!}

Note; we can still use your help your help!!!. Workdays for August are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday..9-noon unless you want to come earlier to beat the heat!!

In the tunnels..everything is growing well..starting to produce preety good as well. Peppers are almost 3 feet tall..a couple of them are almost as tall as Cerra!! We started flats of fall greens this week..in another month we will be transplanting them into the tunnel for those late fall veggie harvests after the fall frosts!! This season seems to moving along at an extremely fast clip..I can't believe it is already mid August!!

Even though we are approaching the halfway point in our CSA season, there are still many weeks left of awesome procuce!! We need 50 members this season!! We have 34 members at this point. We will still be signing folks up until we are full!!

Happy closer to abodonza everyone!!

Note: 19th veggie pickup of the 2015 season is tomorrow morning!!!  9:00am to noon!!!

Another note: Mark August 22nd on your calendar..that's when Kat is going to demonstrate what to do with all those summer veggies in your share!! We would like to have some of the rest of your bring a recipe or dish of what you do with them to share as well!!

We've had about 2 weeks of fairly warm sunny weather..a couple days of clouds but mostly dry and sunny. highs in the high 80's-low 90's..lows still a bit cooler than we would like..ranging from high 40's-low 50's. Looks like we might get a little bit of moisture tonight and tomorrow ..just in time for veggie pickup!!

Outdoor adventures are coming along..another bazillion weeds down. Garlic is all in and hanging..just need to let it dry down a bit before we cut it off the stalks and get it into bags. Then it is on to onion adventures..many of our storage onions are starting to put their tops down..hope they are just overachieving..seems a bit early for some of them..we usually are able to get most of the garlic bagged before we have to start on onions!! now that the garlic is out we are working on getting beds ready for more fall roots..more beets, carrots, turnips, radishes, kohlrabi.. The warm weather is greatly appreciated by all our  warm season goodies..summer squash is starting to come on..picked our first outdoor eggplants and cucs..looks like next week the peppers will be happening..green beans are slow but coming along..tomatillas are setting fruit..tomatoes are growing rapidly.

Thank you Joyce for coming out and helping us with our  adventures!! As well as Terry, Billie, Mikal, and Cerra for harvest day..you all rock!!

Sad news..this coming week will be Alex's last week here on the farm this season. Please help us thank her for all her hard work!! Mikal and Cerra will be starting back to school soon..please help us thank them for harvesting and cleaning up all the veggies we pick on Thursdays!!!

Note; we can still use your help your help!!!. Workdays for August are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday..9-noon unless you want to come earlier to beat the heat!!

In the tunnels..favas are all gone now..it looks so different now..but the tomatoes are happy with the extra space. Our tomato walls are growing rapidly..black cherry and blush have made it to the top of the trellis..most everyone else will be there soon!! Tomatoes in the low tunnel are starting to ripen well..the ones in the high tunnel are starting to ripen as well..new tomato we are trying this season..indigo blueberry is starting to come on well..please give us feedback on how you like it!! peppers are doing extra well..eggplant is off and running..some of the cucs are producing well..some are not..we gave the ones that are not a little extra love and they are looking better, though..okra is looking great but not producing much yet..I don't think they like the cool nights even though the plants are bigger and bushier than they usually are.

Even though we are approaching the halfway point in our CSA season, there are still many weeks left of awesome procuce!! We need 50 members this season!! We have 34 members at this point. We will still be signing folks up until we are full!!

Happy Summer everyone!!

Note: 17th veggie pickup of the 2015 season is tomorrow morning!!!  9:00am to noon!!!

Another note: If you have not made a payment since April..now is the time!!

Another week of changeable Colorado weather!! Saturday started out sunny but by the end of veggie pickup it was pouring rain..let up just a bit..then the heavens opened and really poured!! Sunday and Monday were pleasant and sunny..until about noon Monday..then more of that pouring rain..several times!! Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday were warm and sunny..then coudy and rainy again today. Our high temps have been in the 70's on cloudy days..mid-high 80's on sunny days..lows have ranged from about 45-56. Much as we appreciate the rain it is making harvesting garlic a bit challenging and some of the warm season crops that love the sun are just waiting it out.{summer squash and tomats especially}

Outdoor adventures are continuing to change..still working on weeds..at least another gazillion of them down,,another gazillion or so to go!! parsnips, rutabaga and mangals are all up..more seeds to plant this next week...beets, turnips, radishes..may try a planting of salad greens as well. We've been working on hilling and mulching potatoes, trellising tomatoes, and harvesting more garlic..got most of the rest of it today..just have elephant garlic to go. Squash bug hunt was better this week..just a handful of adults and nymphs and a few egg clusters. Harvesting more basil this week, sweet onions are positively beautiful, a tad more summer squash. Checked the carrots..maybe another week before they are ready for harvest.

Thank you Joyce for coming out and helping us with our  adventures!! As well as Terry, Billie, Mikal, and Cerra for harvest day..you all rock!!

Note; we can still use your help your help!!!. Workdays for July and August are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday..9-noon unless you want to come earlier to beat the heat!!

In the tunnels..favas are now only about a foot high..they will be all out next week when we fertilize and mulch the rest of the kale and the gallion. The bulk of the chard and kale are all fertilized and mulched. Tomato walls are getting much taller..some of them are getting taller than me. Harvested about a dozen black cherry tomats this week..our tomato harvest went from 6 tomatoes to about 3 lbs..still not a lot but slowly getting better!! Tomato hornworm harvest went down to something like 10. Peppers are looking awesome..I think our first real harvest of them will be next week..lots of nice firm fruit. Harvested more cucs, eggplant, and okra..still not huge amounts so please be kind and share!!

Not sure if our CSA is for you?  Have questions on how it works? Would you like to schedule a tour and talk to your farmer face to face? Please, don't hesitate to contact us through the website or by phone. {be aware that we are spending much of our daylight hours outdoors away from the phone..Please leave a message and we will be glad to get back to you in the evening!!}

Updates on our little birdie friends...

new little chickies  are just about 9 weeks old..a bit more confident about tomato horn worms!! They missed the big girls for about 2 days but are now very happy with the extra space!!

Old little chickies are almost 21 weeks old now{this coming Wednesday} They moved down to the chicken coop with the rest of the chickens..seem to be liking it. Della throws out a bit of scratch for the chicken in the evening to bribe them into going to bed..she says while the older birds are all about getting in on the scratch the young ones are hopping up on the roosts and picking out the best sleeping spot!!

New duckies are 17 weeks old now..looks like we have 3 girls and 5 boys!!

Little Miss did it!! Now have 7 or 8 little goslings that are 10 weeks old. Now that they are getting a few feathers, they are harder to tell from the older geese.

Looks like the next one will be Saturday August 22..please put it on your calendar and come to farm to learn about and taste some awesome food!! Please think about bringing a dish of what you make with peak season goodies to share!!

Workdays for July, August, Sept..weekdays Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. 9 am-noon unless you would like to come earlier to beat the heat!

What is available for the CSA?

Note: not sure what to do with your produce..check out our website..  www.circleagarden.com I keep adding more recipes as new stuff is ready to harvest.

This usually my best guess on Thursday evening..it can change as we get to harvesting.

NOTE: Food Safety..we do NOT consider any of our produce ready to eat{not even the salad greens!!} We chill it in cool water to remove the field heat and get some of the soil off but must recommend that you WASH your produce before eating!!
